Want to me meet people from around the world seeking to practice English through the Bible? People from many nations come to TalkEnglish every week seeking ways to grow in their English skills and in their knowledge of God. To serve these students, we are looking for dedicated volunteer instructors with strong English skills who have a heart for internationals and a passion to teach online.
Anyone can become a TalkEnglish instructor simply by using the free materials we provide.
However, if you wish to be a part of our online team, you must apply and be accepted to volunteer. Below are the hours, duties, requirements, and application for serving as an associate volunteer with TalkEnglish. Please check the Classes page for the specific hours of service. Volunteer Hours
Class schedules are designed so that students from around the world can attend our classes.
We offer up to two sections of the same class. Instructors may serve in one or more sections Classes are an hour and a half once a week. We ask that commit to all classes for which you register as an instructor.
All classes offered through our website are online and require the Zoom app for administration.
All instructors must be signed into the class 15 minutes before each class begins.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Assist the lead instructor by managing discussion breakouts

Share insights about the text with students during the Comprehension Question breakouts and share personally with students during the Personal Sharing breakouts

Assist students with pronunciation and comprehension of questions and the text

Facilitate classes if the lead instructor is absent

Additional reading and study may be required as needed

Attend all classes for which you register

Attend a mandatory training where you will practice leading discussions before classes begin (2-3 hours)

Classes will be limited to a maximum of 20 students/class with a maximum of 10 students/breakout
Required Skills
-
Heartfelt desire and patience to help internationals practice English and understand the teachings of Jesus

Strong, clear English speaking skills required
-
ESOL teaching or other teaching experience is a plus
-
Knowledge of foundational Biblical concepts is a plus
-
Strong presentation and verbal skills (reading, writing, spelling, speaking)
-
Strong customer service skills, personable and outgoing, service-oriented
-
Patient, flexible, and mild mannered
-
Christ-like attitude and behavior
-
Excellent listening skills
-
Professional and dependable; punctuality is required

Zoom app is required
Dress Code
For sensitivity to all cultures, please dress modestly. Nothing tight. Tops should fully cover shoulders and chest.

If you are selected for a Zoom interview, we will contact you within 2 weeks of your application.
Unfortunately, we may not be able to respond to your application if you are not selected. We apologize for that,
but we encourage you to try teaching TalkEnglish for a while on your own and then try again another time.
